This morning on Facebook, Gramma sent wishes : “Happy first day of First grade, Bobby! Gramma is so proud of you”

And my Aunt asked how I was doing…

“I did ok…I had to run to Target after, it was so quiet without, “MOM, can we just LOOK at the toys…boy, I would love you SO MUCH if you got me this toy, can I have candy? remember you said no last time so THIS time you can say YES, can we LIVE here? Does anybody live here? Fluffy needs new toys too.”….and I drank my coffee…and I missed my little buddy…”

oh bother!

…at some point in my Brother’s wedding, the song “Aint No Mountain High Enough” was played.  Well, that turned out not to be true.  This weekend his wife will be getting re-married, to one of Jordan’s friends-he seems nice enough-I met him at the funeral.  I am fine with this, of course I am.  I want her to be happy, I want the kids to have that figure in their lives…its all true…I DO WANT THAT.

Stupid grief…popping up whenever…and I am FINE…just annoyed.  Mom forwarded a picture of little Katie opening Gramma’s present for her birthday…she looks so…Williams…I miss his kiddos…and I miss him…

I discovered this dessert at Rio Bravos Tex Mex when I lived in Tampa…its a Hershey bar, wrapped in a flour tortilla and fried…served with chocolate syrup, whipped cream, and vanilla ice cream…the Chocolate Chimichanga!

Use a whole Hershey bar per tortilla (minus a piece for your favorite niece, and yourself)

Fold to the center

Bring up the lower portion

I put them into the freezer for about an hour to help keep them closed when frying.  Its very important to not let the tortilla unwrap while frying…the chocolate will melt out…and it will be an awful mess…so I use metal tongs and hold the seam down as best I can while it cooks.  I don’t fry…but I found a cool trick while researching online-tear quarter-sized bits from another tortilla and throw one in, if it sizzles and starts to brown, then the oil is hot enough to start…so my experience went well…the kiddos were banned from the kitchen while the oil cooled and they had to endure a few stories from my time working at the pediatric burn unit…and boy were they ready to dig in!  Warm ooey-gooey melted Hershey chocolate, crispy tortilla, cold vanilla ice cream…its delicious!

Here they are! Neither was able to finish…and it will probably be another 6 years before I make them again…but this is dessert is at the top of my all-time-favorites list!!

Rio Bravo closed their doors…without warning…I have heard that Chevy’s is owned by the same people…but I was not impressed…and their dessert menu is missing something spectacular!!!
